Kano Launches AbbaCare Initiative to Support Ailing Kannywood Practitioners
The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency has launched the Kannywood AbbaCare Initiative under Governor Abba Yusuf’s First Healthcare Development Agenda. The programme aims to help vulnerable film practitioners access quality medical services. Dr Rahila Aliyu-Muktar announced the plan at a meeting held at the Kano State Censorship Board headquarters. Eight critically ill members have already enrolled with the agency’s Rapid Response Team for urgent assessments, treatment, and follow-up care. The initiative recognises Kannywood’s role in public enlightenment, cultural promotion, and social development. Alhaji Abba Almustapha of the Censorship Board praised the scheme and pledged to mobilise industry associations so that practitioners take full advantage of the healthcare support available.
