Aminu Gwarzo Quits ADC Just Four Weeks After Defection

Aminu Gwarzo, former deputy governor of Kano State, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress. He confirmed the move in a letter to the party chairman in Gwarzo Local Government Area dated May 1, 2026. He explained that recent shifts in the political landscape prompted his decision. “This choice follows careful thought and consultations with my associates, supporters and well-wishers across the state,” he wrote. Gwarzo said his resignation reflects a commitment to good governance, democratic principles and sustainable development. He expressed gratitude to ADC leaders and members for their cooperation and support. He did not disclose his next political destination, but observers link his departure to ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
