Iranian President Accuses IRGC Commanders of Undermining Ceasefire

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused senior IRGC leaders of sabotaging ceasefire efforts and escalating the conflict. He confronted commanders Ahmad Vahidi and Ali Abdollahi in a tense exchange, warning their actions could trigger “a huge catastrophe.” Pezeshkian said ongoing attacks on regional infrastructure left no chance for peace. He cautioned that Iran’s economy could collapse if the war drags on and lamented that his authority is being sidelined by military networks. Reports from an opposition-aligned media outlet suggest IRGC forces have resisted presidential appointments and now control key wartime positions. Troop morale is further strained by food shortages, delayed salaries and poor living conditions.

It's telling that senior commanders could undermine a ceasefire so openly, suggesting deeper fractures within Iran's military hierarchy.

Blaming only IRGC leaders for tensions overlooks regional rivalries and foreign pressures that also stoke this standoff.

Dem need clear de-escalation roadmap, confirm every peace term before talks restart, then small-small rebuild confidence among rival factions.
