Giannis Antetokounmpo Traded to Miami Heat in Blockbuster Swap
Greek-Nigerian star Giannis Antetokounmpo is on his way to the Miami Heat as part of a major trade. He and Bobby Portis join the Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kelenna Ware and Kasparas Jakucionis, plus three first-round picks, a second-round selection and a pick swap for the Bucks. Antetokounmpo, a 2021 NBA champion with Milwaukee, averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists last season. He leaves the Bucks as the franchise leader in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and triple-doubles. The Greek-born star will be eligible for a new contract in January 2027, with a potential four-year, $275 million extension if he opts out, or three years at $214 million if he opts in. Milwaukee finished 32–50 last season and is now set for a rebuild after Antetokounmpo’s 13-season run.
