Five-Year Jinx Broken: Gov Mbah Pledges Support for FedPoly Ohodo After Hon. Obetta’s Facilitation
In a landmark meeting on February 12, 2026, Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah hosted the Governing Council and management of Federal Polytechnic Ohodo. This was the first time in five years that the institution’s leaders met a host state governor, thanks to the facilitation of Hon. Chidi Mark Obetta. Governor Mbah pledged to construct the seven-kilometre access road to the permanent site and directed the education commissioner to liaise with polytechnic authorities on other critical needs, including electricity, water and scholarships. He also welcomed the institution’s role in his Smart Green School Initiative and the state’s agricultural technology drive. Senator Emmanuel Dangana Ocheja, chair of the Governing Council, highlighted the polytechnic’s achievements since its 2021 inception but expressed concern over low enrolment and pending land compensations. He appealed for state support to boost student numbers and resolve host community disputes. The council outlined plans to expand academic programmes and reinforced the polytechnic’s alignment with state and federal education goals. They vowed to develop skilled, job-ready graduates to drive entrepreneurship and sustainable growth in Enugu State.
