Devotional Reflection: Cultivating a Brand-New Heart
Today’s reading explores the Parable of the Sower’s first soil type, the wayside soil. It refers to people who hear God’s word but do not understand it or apply it. Many attend church out of habit without digging deeper. I once fell into this category. I assumed that church attendance and a Christian name guaranteed my faith. I heard the word but never studied it. When I surrendered to Christ, He gave me a new heart that yearned to know Him more. Beloved, do you study your Bible daily? Do you ask questions when verses seem unclear? Pray for a heart that finds God’s word exciting and ask the Holy Spirit to open your understanding. Start by reading beyond today’s passage or following a Bible-in-one-year plan. Prayer Point Father, please give me a heart that yearns for Your word more than anything else.
