Sanusi Proud of Super Eagles Despite Narrow 2-1 Friendly Loss to Portugal

Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi praised Nigeria’s spirited display in Wednesday’s friendly against Portugal in Leiria. He highlighted the team’s improved defence and noted they conceded fewer goals than in their previous meeting four years ago. Sanusi was particularly pleased with the first half, saying the side grew into the game despite Portugal’s quality. Speaking as an FC Porto player, he even revealed he plans to cheer for Portugal at the 2026 World Cup, calling it his “second country.”
