Israelis Arrested in Turkey Over Organ Trafficking from Syrian Refugees
On May 6, 2024, Turkish police carried out coordinated raids that led to the arrest of four Israeli nationals. Authorities seized large sums of cash, fake passports and digital evidence, charging the suspects with human organ trafficking, people smuggling and forgery. Investigators say the ring recruited Syrian refugees to sell their kidneys for high fees. The probe began when officers flagged seven visitors from Israel under the guise of “health tourism.” Two young Syrian nationals reportedly agreed to sell kidneys to two Israeli buyers. This case follows earlier allegations of organ harvesting from Palestinians. In 2009, a major Swedish newspaper reported that Israeli forces took organs from deceased detainees, drawing fierce denials and accusations of blood libel. Similar claims have resurfaced in human rights reports, suggesting a troubling pattern beyond isolated incidents.
