Through his media aide, Atiku argued that fuel costs alone do not reflect living standards. He pointed to key factors like purchasing power, income levels and overall cost of living, which he says make Nigeria pricier than Kenya. Atiku highlighted that Kenya’s GDP per capita and minimum wage far exceed Nigeria’s. He noted workers in Nairobi earn almost double the average Nigerian salary, eroding any fuel‐price advantage.
