Sunday–Tuesday Forecast: Dust Haze and Thunderstorms Expected in Several States

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency predicts moderate dust haze over the northern and North-Central regions from Sunday through Tuesday. Visibility will be between 2 km and 5 km, falling below 1 km in parts of Katsina, Kano and Jigawa. In the southern region, expect mostly sunny skies with a few clouds. There is a slight chance of isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms and light rain over Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Ondo and Edo on various days. NiMet advises people with asthma or other respiratory conditions to take precautions. Motorists should drive carefully during rainfall, and airline operators are urged to consult airport-specific weather reports. Keep checking regular weather updates for any changes.

I get you, I'm shifting some errands to early morning before the haze gets thicker.

Visibility dropping below one kilometer in Katsina, Kano and Jigawa seems extreme for usual seasonal haze.

Not sure those thunderstorms will really hit every southern region as the forecast suggests.

Keep a face mask handy for the dust haze and consider checking local alerts before heading out.
