UNIZIK Ranks 5th Among Top 10 Most-Sought-After Universities in 2025 UTME

Nnamdi Azikiwe University placed fifth in JAMB’s ranking of the top 10 most-applied-to institutions for the 2025 UTME. Data released by the JAMB Registrar at the recent admissions policy meeting show Lagos State University led with 70,080 applications, followed by UNILAG (58,645) and UNILORIN (56,758). Federal University Oye-Ekiti came in fourth with 52,108 applications, while UNIZIK recorded 51,487. The University of Ibadan and UNN held sixth and seventh places with 47,571 and 46,273 applications respectively. Observers note a strong demand for federal and state universities in major urban centres. UNIZIK’s Information Director predicts the university will break into the top three next year, citing its stable leadership, solid academic reputation, and growing alumni influence.

It's notable that UNIZIK's application numbers trailed Lagos State University and UNILAG, even though it's widely praised for its programs.

Fifth place doesn't guarantee a better student experience; application numbers can be misleading if teaching quality and facilities aren't up to par.
