Catholic Mission Dismisses Tansian University Registrar over Unauthorised Absence
The Missionary Sons of Blessed Tansi announced the dismissal of Br Innocent Uke, registrar of Tansian University, after a formal canonical process. He was accused of prolonged unauthorised absence from community life and persistent disobedience to lawful directives. A decree dated 30 May 2026 and signed by the congregation’s moderator and general secretary said Uke ignored orders to return by May 1 despite formal warnings on April 22 and May 9 under the 1983 Code of Canon Law. Church law grants Uke 30 days to appeal the decision. This action comes amid broader controversy over governance and appointment procedures at the private Catholic university.
