Hard Work Alone Is Not Enough: Seek God’s Empowerment to Excel

Hard work and education matter, but they do not always determine who prospers. As the saying goes, labour alone does not automatically produce wealth. A dockworker may work from dawn to dusk yet earn far less than an executive whose job appears less physically demanding. Ecclesiastes teaches that speed does not always win a race, strength does not always win a battle, and wisdom does not always bring riches. Success also depends on timing, opportunity and, above all, God’s favour. During a period of prayer at Redemption Camp in the early 1980s, I asked God for the power to serve Him effectively and excel in ministry. I believe God answered that prayer and empowered me for the work. If you desire to excel, seek God’s anointing and guidance. God gives the power to gain wealth, teaches His people and strengthens them to do what they are called to do.
