NSCDC Busts Fake University in Badagry, Rescues 106 Students
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Badagry uncovered an alleged bogus university running from a three-bedroom apartment in Ilado, Lagos State. They rescued 106 youths, mostly aged 19 to 24, who were lured with promises of admission into a foreign institution. Officers arrested the alleged proprietor after days of covert surveillance based on credible intelligence. Victims reportedly paid between ₦200,000 and ₦1.5 million (or $400–$500 for some) as admission and processing fees. Preliminary investigations reveal the scheme operated like a Ponzi chain, urging participants to recruit others for commissions. All rescued youths are now in protective custody for profiling and further inquiry.
