10-Hour Power Interruption Scheduled for Ondo Town and Okitipupa on June 30

10-Hour Power Interruption Scheduled for Ondo Town and Okitipupa on June 30

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned outage on Tuesday, June 30. Power will be off in Ondo Town and Okitipupa from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Engineers will carry out critical upgrades at the Ondo 132/33kV substation. This includes transferring the Ife-Ondo 132kV line to a new bay and commissioning a 60MVA transformer to boost the network. During this maintenance window, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to off-take power for distribution in the affected areas. TCN apologises for the inconvenience and assures consumers the work will strengthen the transmission network.

Upgrading the substation is important, but choosing a weekday for ten-hour blackout seems poorly timed given work and school schedules.

Consider charging essential devices overnight and investing in a small inverter or generator to keep lights on during critical hours on June 30.
