UK–Nigeria Academic Collaboration Highlighted at Baze University GREAT Talks
The British Council hosted its flagship GREAT Talks Initiative at Baze University in Abuja. Scholars, researchers and students gathered to explore partnerships between Nigerian universities and leading UK institutions. Speakers stressed the value of cross-border research on socio-economic and environmental challenges. Professor Abdullahi Ahmed from the University of Manchester delivered the keynote on renewable energy investment under climate uncertainty. Dr Keiran Hunt of the University of Reading showcased how artificial intelligence can forecast weather-driven electricity demand in Nigeria. An interactive plenary allowed attendees to discuss practical applications of the research. Organisers said the strong turnout reflected growing interest in sustained knowledge exchange. The initiative is expected to spark future joint research projects and institutional partnerships.
