Christian Family Alleges Kano Hisbah Board Abducted and Married Off Their 17-Year-Old Daughter
A family from Pankshin LGA of Plateau State has petitioned the Kaduna State police over the alleged abduction and forced conversion of their 17-year-old daughter, Jinkai Simon. The petition, dated May 6, 2026, states she disappeared on March 9 while travelling from home to school in Zaria. According to the family, a neighbour named Ruqaiya took Jinkai to Kano where the Hisbah Board changed her name to Aisha Sani, falsified her age, and married her off to a man identified as Abdulsamad. Documents attached to the petition include a high court affidavit swearing she is 19 and alleged forged birth certificates and consent papers. The petition calls on the police to investigate the Kano Hisbah Board for forging documents, violating child rights, and to secure Jinkai’s safe return. Copies were sent to the IGP, Kaduna CAN leadership, church authorities, and relevant child-rights groups for support and enforcement of her rights.
