Federal High Court in Lagos Adjourns Odiete’s Cannabis Trial to July 10, 2026

The Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the trial of businessman God’spower Phillip Odiete to July 10, 2026. He faces a two-count charge alleging conspiracy to import and actual importation of 13.5 kilograms of cannabis. During the last sitting, NDLEA counsel called their second witness and stated that four more witnesses would be called before closing the prosecution’s case. Defence counsel raised no objections. Justice Daniel Osiagor set the next hearing date for July 10, 2026, for continuation of the trial.

Delay alone won't shatter public trust; court postponements are common. Defence team can adjust plans for a new trial date.

It seems unusual for a high-profile importation case to be pushed that far ahead without clear reasons for such a lengthy delay.

This extended adjournment could just be stalling tactic by the prosecution rather than a genuine scheduling issue.
