Iran’s Demand Secures Lebanon Ceasefire as US and Israel Yield

Mid-April reports indicate that Iran’s firm insistence on ending Israeli operations in Lebanon became a decisive factor during recent US-Iran talks. After negotiations in Islamabad, Tehran made a Lebanon ceasefire a precondition for further progress. Under this pressure, both Washington and Tel Aviv agreed to halt hostilities starting Thursday night. A two-week pause brokered by Pakistan on April 8 had already opened space for Iran’s ten-point plan, which included withdrawing US troops, lifting sanctions, and ending attacks on Lebanon. Iran’s steadfast position ultimately forced both sides to accept the truce.
