Court Sets Bail for Two Women Accused of Abducting 13-Year-Old Girl in Lagos

Two women, Funke Aire (50) and Divine Richard (27), appeared before the Badagry Chief Magistrates Court on charges of abducting 13-year-old Zubaida Ibrahim in Lagos. Both defendants pleaded not guilty. Prosecutor ASP Edet Ekpo told the court the alleged offence occurred on March 12 at around 9:23 p.m. in Agbomimo, Badagry. He said the pair conspired to take the girl without her parents’ consent and were intercepted by locals who handed them over to police. Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted each woman bail of ₦500,000 with two sureties of like sum. One surety must be a company director or community leader. The case was adjourned to April 23 for mention.
