ADC Unveils Collegiate Power-Sharing Blueprint to Strengthen Opposition for 2027

The African Democratic Congress has introduced a new power-sharing framework to foster collective leadership if it wins the 2027 election. The “collegiate system” aims to move away from winner-takes-all politics and keep all aspirants engaged, according to party reformer Lukman Salihu. Salihu explained that the plan ensures governance rests on team spirit rather than individual dominance. He said the party’s 50-member committee has adopted a citizen-focused manifesto and will soon unveil detailed policies. He dismissed suggestions of internal division and criticised the ruling APC for abandoning its founding ideals. The framework also includes a structured screening process to select credible candidates and maintain unity within the opposition coalition.

A power-sharing blueprint sounds promising, but history shows that such frameworks often struggle without clear enforcement mechanisms and mutual trust.

I no too sure say this structure go hold all sides together, especially with local rivalries vying for dominance.

Perhaps ADC could set up regular joint convenings and transparent decision logs to build accountability in the collegiate system.
