2026 JAMB Policy Meeting Sets New Guidelines for Fair Admissions
At the recent 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting on admissions into tertiary institutions, stakeholders resolved to uphold fairness, transparency and merit in Nigeria’s higher education entry process. Key decisions include making all admissions outside the CAPS platform illegal, maintaining a 16-year minimum age, and streamlining NCE applications so candidates with four credits no longer need UTME but must register for CAPS screening. Admission scores stay at 150 for universities and nursing colleges, and 100 for polytechnics. The federal government will boost support for students with disabilities, roll out digital and AI-driven testing, and strengthen systems to curb examination malpractice. These measures aim to turn policy into action and build an inclusive, credible tertiary system. JAMB leadership is commended for deploying data-driven systems that enhance trust in the admissions process.
