Wenger Backs Arsenal to Beat PSG in Champions League Final

Wenger Backs Arsenal to Beat PSG in Champions League Final

Former Arsenal boss and FIFA’s head of global development Arsene Wenger has explained why he would back Arsenal to defeat Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday’s Champions League final. Wenger recalled the heartbreak of the 2006 final, when Arsenal led Barcelona but lost after Jens Lehmann was sent off. He believes the club is due to lift the trophy after coming so close. He praised Mikel Arteta’s work, saying Arsenal’s consistency this season makes them strong contenders. “It’s fifty-fifty in the final, and if I had to bet, I would bet on Arsenal more than on Paris Saint-Germain,” Wenger said. A victory in Istanbul would crown two decades of Champions League progress for Arsenal and mark a return to the pinnacle of European football.

It's interesting how Wenger draws parallels between that 2006 heartbreak and this current Arsenal squad facing PSG.

Wenger's optimism is admirable, but PSG's depth and recent form shouldn't be underestimated in that final.

Arsenal should focus on a solid defensive setup and quick transitions if they want to counter PSG's star attackers effectively.
