Borno Governor Zulum Donates ₦50m to Family of Fallen Lt. Col. Okolo
I attended the funeral of Lt. Col. OC Okolo in Enugu on April 10, 2026. Governor Babagana Zulum donated ₦50 million to the late officer’s family through his Special Adviser on Security, Brig-Gen Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq (rtd). The gift was part of sustained support by the Borno State Government to families of fallen and wounded soldiers in the fight against insurgency. Speaking through his representatives, the governor expressed deep condolences. He hailed Lt. Col. Okolo as a gallant officer whose sacrifice will not be forgotten. He also prayed for strength for the grieving family. On behalf of the late officer’s relatives, Prof. Stanley Okolo thanked the governor for his compassion and solidarity. He commended military leaders who attended the service despite the short notice. This act follows similar donations totalling ₦150 million by Governor Zulum to other bereaved military families. He assured that support will continue for those who lost loved ones or are declared missing in action.
