NDLEA Raids Abuja Drug Joints, Arrests 132 and Seizes Over 220kg of Narcotics
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency conducted intensive raids across Abuja and its environs from April 11 to April 25. The operation targeted major drug joints and bunkers identified through weeks of surveillance. Officers arrested 132 suspects and seized more than 220kg of illicit substances. Recovered items included 214.79kg of skunk, 5.524kg of diazepam, 1.119kg of tramadol, 93.52g of cocaine, and several bottles of codeine syrup. Despite stiff resistance at Durumi and Suleja market axes, operatives subdued syndicates without any recorded casualties. The coordinated effort disrupted organised distribution networks in hotspots such as Gwarinpa, AYA, Kubwa, and Garki. The NDLEA chairman praised the professionalism of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation and directed that this operational model be replicated in other high-risk urban centres nationwide.
