Flamingos Gear Up for Weekend Friendlies Against Generation Next and Nazareth Queens

Flamingos Gear Up for Weekend Friendlies Against Generation Next and Nazareth Queens

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, will take on Generation Next this Saturday and Nazareth Queens on Sunday at the Goal Project in Abuja. Most of Akeem Busari’s squad has already arrived at the Serob Legacy Hotel as they fine-tune preparations for next month’s second round qualifiers against Guinea. The first leg in Conakry is set for May 22–24, with the return leg in Abuja on May 30. These matches come ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, scheduled from October 17 to November 7, 2026.

I worry that such a tight schedule might risk injuries or fatigue, possibly hampering their performance in the second match.

They should prioritize post-game recovery routines like ice baths, massages, and proper nutrition to maintain energy for both weekend fixtures.
