APC Unveils 18 Chairmanship and 192 Councillorship Candidates for 2026 Edo LG Election

The All Progressives Congress in Edo State held its primaries on July 11, 2026. The party nominated one chairmanship candidate for each of the 18 local government areas and 192 councillorship hopefuls. Notable chairmanship selections include Romeo Omoakhe (Etsako West) with 2,960 votes, Gabriel Idusere (Oredo) with 5,933 votes, and Eric Osawaro (Ikpoba-Okha) with 4,921 votes. Other nominees emerged across Esan, Owan, Ovia, Orhionmwon and Akoko-Edo councils. Honourable Bello, the Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, praised the exercise as peaceful and rancour-free. He commended the electorate for their maturity and wished all candidates success. Emperor Jarret Tenebe, Edo State APC chairman, charged the nominees to work diligently. He said their victory at the polls would secure the party’s position in all wards and councils.
