March and March Leaders Trade Claims Over Political Funding and Bribery
Former March and March leader Ngizwe Mchunu has alleged that the South African protest movement receives funding from a local political party and an international backer. He did not provide evidence for the claims. Movement leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma challenged him to substantiate the allegations. Supporters of the group have also accused Mchunu of taking a R10 million bribe to divide the movement, an allegation he denied. The dispute has exposed deep divisions within March and March, whose protests reportedly appear to be losing momentum. Mchunu, who recently met with President Cyril Ramaphosa, insists he still plans to run for president.
