Ekiti State Urges New JAMB Registrar to Champion Inclusive Exams for Neurodiverse Candidates

Ekiti State delegates used the World Inclusion Conference to call on Professor Segun Aina to expand exam accommodations for neurodiverse candidates. They congratulated the new JAMB Registrar on his appointment by President Tinubu and praised past equal opportunity initiatives. At 39, Professor Aina becomes the youngest-ever JAMB Registrar. He succeeds Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose decade-long tenure ends this July. Delegates expressed confidence in Aina’s expertise in digital infrastructure and examination systems. Ekiti State’s overhaul of public special schools has driven a 30% rise in WAEC, NECO and JAMB performance. The delegation urged the new leadership to adopt modified timeframes and specialized access arrangements for students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other conditions. Secondary education stakeholders nationwide will watch closely as Professor Aina prepares for the next academic cycle. They hope he will leverage technology to build a more equitable testing environment for all Nigerian children.

While inclusion goals sound promising, we need proof that exam boards can adapt to diverse needs without compromising standardisation.
