Estate of Late Ras Kimono Warns Public Against Fraudulent Ota Land Sale

Estate of Late Ras Kimono Warns Public Against Fraudulent Ota Land Sale — 1 of 2
1 / 2

The family and authorised representatives of the Estate of the late Ras Kimono have issued a formal warning over a bogus sale of one of his Ota, Ogun State, plots. A woman named Sybil Amuta (aka Sybil Onwubuya Ekure) falsely claimed to be the deceased’s lawful wife and sold land worth ₦15,000,000 without any legal mandate. The Estate clarifies that Sybil Amuta’s marriage to Ras Kimono was dissolved in August 2005 and that he was legally married to Cynthia Dumas at the time of his passing. Consequently, any transaction she initiated is unauthorised and null. Prospective buyers and agents are urged to refrain from dealing with her or any third party on this land. The Estate will pursue all legal remedies against anyone involved in such fraudulent dealings to protect the late icon’s legacy.

Who else finds it alarming that scammers can impersonate estate representatives to sell land in Ota Ogun State?

Absolutely crazy how scammers can pretend to sell land there. We all need to double-check any offer.

Hmm, I wouldn't jump to assume it happens only in Ota. Fraudsters pop up everywhere, not exclusive to that town.

It seems odd that no official records or representatives were consulted before this sale claim surfaced in public notices.

Issuing warnings alone won't deter cunning fraudsters or help potential buyers spot forged documents proactively.

Prospective land buyers in Ota should crosscheck seller credentials with Ogun State land registry before signing any documents or transferring funds.
