1 / 3

Nabila Aguele has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Malala Fund, becoming the first global CEO to be based in Nigeria, one of the organisation’s key focus countries. Since 2024, she has led Malala Fund Nigeria, directing nearly $3 million in grants to local education advocates and supporting a coalition working to end child marriage. Under her leadership, the fund awarded over $9 million last year to organisations across ten countries advancing girls’ education. Co-founder Malala Yousafzai and board member Ziauddin Yousafzai praised Nabila’s policy expertise, integrity and ground-up approach. Outgoing CEO Lena Alfi, who served nearly nine years, looks forward to Nabila building on the strategy and partnerships that have strengthened Malala Fund’s global impact.
