Spain’s World Cup Woes vs Africa Deepen with Cape Verde Stalemate

Spain’s World Cup Woes vs Africa Deepen with Cape Verde Stalemate

Cape Verde stunned fans in Atlanta by holding European champions Spain to a goalless draw in their World Cup 2026 Group H opener. Spain has now failed to beat an African side in their last three World Cup matches, drawing with Morocco in 2018 and 2022 and losing to them on penalties in Qatar. Their last win over an African nation dates back to a 3-1 victory against Tunisia in 2006. The Spaniards face Saudi Arabia next, while Cape Verde take on Uruguay.
