Larin’s Late Equaliser Secures 1-1 Draw for Canada Against Bosnia
Canada recovered from an early deficit to grab a 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in their World Cup opener. Jovo Lukic had given Bosnia the lead in the 21st minute when he nodded in from a Sead Kolasinac corner. The North Americans dominated possession and pressed hard for an equaliser, with goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj denying Jonathan David and other Canadian attackers on several occasions. Substitute Cyle Larin and Promise David injected fresh energy into the forward line after the break. Their efforts paid off in the 78th minute when David set up Larin, whose deflected shot beat Vasilj to level the score. Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages but had to settle for a share of the points.
