Do Born-Again Christians Need to Make Restitution for Past Wrongs?

When we accept Jesus, our sins are forgiven and our names are written in the Book of Life. Yet the Holy Spirit may remind us of wrongs we committed before conversion. True repentance involves both heartfelt change and making restitution when we are led to do so.

It seems odd that forgiveness doesn't automatically erase any obligation to those we've harmed or stolen from in the past.

I doubt insisting on restitution for every past wrong risks turning grace into legalism and guilt-tripping new believers.

Perhaps creating a simple list of past harms and making a plan to address each gradually could help believers obey the Spirit's promptings.
