Borno Police Impound 78 Unregistered Vehicles in Security Drive
The Borno State Police Command has impounded 78 vehicles for operating without valid number plates or for concealing, altering or defacing them. The exercise, which began on June 10, follows a directive from the Inspector-General of Police. All owners and drivers of the seized vehicles have been processed and charged in court under existing laws. The Commissioner of Police described the operation as a proactive crime-prevention measure aimed at boosting public safety and thwarting criminals who exploit unregistered vehicles. Authorities stress that the crackdown is not meant to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to enforce traffic and security regulations. Vehicle owners are urged to regularise their registrations and display approved plates correctly. The police affirm that enforcement will continue professionally and fairly to protect lives and property across the state.
