Super Eagles Defender Benjamin Fredrick Back in Grass Training

Super Eagles Defender Benjamin Fredrick Back in Grass Training — 1 of 5
1 / 5

Super Eagles youngster Benjamin Fredrick has returned to on-field work after a long-term knee injury. The centre-back, currently on loan at Belgian side F.C.V. Dender EH from Brentford FC, was sidelined in November 2025 following a training injury. He missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished third. He is now in a controlled training environment, building strength around the knee. Reports on social media suggest his recovery phase will last about a month. With the domestic season wrapping up, Fredrick is on track to be fully fit for next term. He is also in contention for Nigeria’s squad in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers.

Do you think Benjamin Fredrick will regain his best form quickly now that he's back on the pitch?

That's promising news—do we know how intense his grass training sessions have been so far?

I get hope, but grass sessions alone no guarantee quick top form. Recovery usually takes patience and consistency.

He missed the entire Africa Cup after that training knock, so it's fair to wonder if his fitness can hold up under top-level pressure.

I'm not convinced just returning to grass training guarantees long-term recovery without any relapses down the road.

Coaches should ease him back with lighter drills for now, monitoring his knee reaction before increasing full match minutes.
