Atiku Slams Tinubu’s Economic Policies as World Bank Reports 63% Poverty Rate

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised alarm over Nigeria’s rising poverty rate after a recent World Bank report placed it at 63%. He warned that this figure reflects growing hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a statement issued by his media aide in Abuja, Atiku faulted abrupt fuel subsidy removal, chaotic naira devaluation and other measures for driving over 60% of Nigerians below the poverty line. He said these policies have deepened suffering and shown a dangerous disconnect from citizens’ daily realities. Atiku urged a shift to carefully sequenced economic reforms, stronger social protection and programs targeting job creation, food security and shared prosperity. He insisted that real leadership must correct policy failures and restore dignity and stability for all Nigerians.
