Tennessee Foster Grandmother Charged After 7-Month-Old Dies in Hot Car
A Tennessee woman has been charged with negligent homicide after her foster grandchild died in a hot car this spring. Authorities say the 7-month-old was left alone from about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On April 15, the infant was due at day care. When staff saw the baby never arrived, they alerted the foster mother. Foster grandmother Linda Charlene Stevens then realised she had not dropped the child off before going to work at the library. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but the infant had been left in a sealed vehicle with the engine off. District Attorney Bryant Dunaway announced the charge on April 24. Stevens was booked into the Putnam County Jail with bond set at $50,000.
