PAU Alumni Sports Festival 2026 Sparks Unity and Sporting Excellence

PAU Alumni Sports Festival 2026 Sparks Unity and Sporting Excellence

Pan-Atlantic University hosted its Alumni Sports Festival on March 28, 2026, at the PAU Sports Centre in Ibeju-Lekki. Alumni, students, staff and friends gathered under the motto “stay connected, stay engaged” for a day of fierce competition and celebration. The festival opened with the university anthem, remarks by Vice Chancellor Professor Enase Okonedo and a welcome address from Alumni Association President Dr. Onyebuchi Odianjo. Sponsored by a leading sports advocate, the event featured women’s football and basketball, where the PAU Sharks teams dominated alumni opponents. Men’s contests delivered dramatic finishes. In basketball, the Sharks edged alumni 69–60. The men’s football final ended 1–1 in regulation before alumni triumphed 4–2 on penalties, thanks to two key saves by their goalkeeper. Off the pitch, charismatic hosts kept the crowd engaged while a live DJ, food vendors and free health screenings from a major HMO enhanced the festive atmosphere. Principal officers, including the Vice Chancellor and alumni leaders, presented awards and joined participants for photos and a closing reception.

Absolutely, the festival combined friendly socials, mentorship circles, and group workshops to build strong alumni–student connections.

You're right, it wasn't only about matches; they also hosted panel talks, casual mixers, and mentorship meetups.

It's impressive they gathered alumni, students, staff, and friends for competitive events, yet I'm not convinced this reflects the experiences of all PAU graduates.

The motto 'stay connected, stay engaged' sounds inspiring, but many alumni probably just enjoyed the competition without building real networks.

Next year's festival could include quick debrief sessions after matches so participants can share feedback and strengthen alumni relationships effectively.
