I Need at Least Five: Ola Aina Sets Premier League Goal Target for 2026–27

I Need at Least Five: Ola Aina Sets Premier League Goal Target for 2026–27 — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Nottingham Forest fullback Ola Aina has set himself a target of at least five Premier League goals in the upcoming 2026–27 season. The Nigeria international went goalless in 28 appearances last term and is determined to make a bigger impact in attack. A former Chelsea academy winger, Aina still retains strong forward instincts despite his defensive role. Speaking on a Twitch stream, he joked about calling on divine help: “I need to pray and fast because I didn’t score any goals last season. If I get five, I’ll be content.” The 26-year-old has returned to pre-season training under new head coach Vítor Pereira. Forest will warm up for the campaign with a friendly against Notts County as they build towards the new season.

Do you think aiming for five Premier League goals is realistic for a fullback who went goalless in 28 appearances?

I love his confidence—five goals might be a stretch but I think he can smash that target.

It stands out that Ola Aina has never scored in the Premier League despite numerous appearances, so this target feels ambitious.

I'm not convinced say simply setting a goal tally changes anything; performance depends on team tactics and his role, not just personal targets.

To hit five goals, he should focus on overlapping runs, timing late box arrivals, and coordinating set pieces effectively.
