When I Asked for My N3,700 Back, the Politician Paid Me with Bundles of 5-Naira Notes
I’ve come to see that many Nigerians in power aren’t interested in real change but in looting the treasury. Fed up, I even decided I might as well sell my vote. I went to meet a politician who owed me N3,700 from four years ago, back when he was preaching reform. After his court victory in Plateau State, he called me and a few others for a ‘strategy session.’ When I reminded him of the debt, he slapped a thick bundle of 5-naira notes into my hand and laughed. He handed bigger packs to his inner circle while I was stuck with these tiny bills. Everyone cheered him on, but I felt insulted. Why give me valueless scraps instead of a proper repayment?
