Arewa Group Accuses Kwara Governor and Presidential Aide of Imposing Unpopular Candidate
Arewa Civil Liberty group alleges that Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has joined forces with a presidential aide to foist an unpopular governorship candidate on the people of Kwara. Spokesperson Ishaq AbdulAzeez says Col. Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf, the President’s Aide-de-Camp and newly appointed Elemona of Ilemona, received lucrative state contracts and rapid traditional promotions in exchange for delivering votes for Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi. The group highlights Yusuf’s rise from a third-class to a second-class ruler within seven months and notes a promised assembly ticket for his brother, Hon. Yusuf Musa Atoyebi. They claim the governor now plans to use traditional rulers to sway the President’s endorsement away from a previously backed philanthropist. They call on the presidency and relevant security agencies to urgently probe these allegations to protect the integrity of the presidency and the sanctity of the Presidential Villa.
