NFF’s Neglect Threatens Super Falcons’ WAFCON Hopes

NFF’s Neglect Threatens Super Falcons’ WAFCON Hopes — 1 of 3
1 / 3

The Super Falcons are Africa’s most successful women’s team with 10 WAFCON titles. Yet their own federation treats them like second-class citizens with recurring payment disputes and bonus rows. With just two months until title defence, the NFF failed to arrange any warm-up matches. Plans to face Cape Verde and Togo collapsed at the last minute, while other African sides secured tough opponents through the FIFA Series. It’s baffling that the same organisation scheduled four friendlies for the Super Eagles but left the Falcons without preparation. If the NFF truly valued its champions, they would prioritise proper friendlies and full support ahead of a major tournament.

I'm not convinced the NFF is totally ignoring them. Maybe there's some behind-the-scenes support we don't see.

The team could arrange independent training camps or friendly warm-up matches abroad funded by sponsors while pressing the NFF for clear bonus schedules.
