Gombe Tug-of-War: APC Refutes Pantami’s Defection as PDP Welcomes Him

A row has broken out in Gombe State over the political status of Ali Isa Pantami. The APC claims the former minister never formally resigned. Its state publicity secretary, Moses Kyari, says 25 of 27 ward executives have no record of his resignation letter. He also questions the authenticity of a letter dated May 19 but received on May 23. Pantami recently emerged as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2027 elections after the APC primary produced Jamilu Gwamna. The APC insists he remains its member under party rules until proper due process is followed. The APC also dismisses claims that his defection and ambition have President Tinubu’s endorsement. In response, the PDP maintains Pantami legally joined its ranks and stands as its bona fide candidate.

What do you make of APC's insistence that Pantami never resigned despite Moses Kyari's claim 25 ward executives saw no letter?

Ha, they're really sticking to that story! Makes the whole tug-of-war feel more theatrical, right?

It seems odd that only two ward executives have recorded Pantami's resignation, maybe the documentation really is that weak or the party is covering up.

To avoid further confusion, the party should publicly release all correspondence or establish a transparent committee to verify Pantami's resignation status.
