Wakili: El-Rufai’s Release Exposes Political Humiliation, Not Wrongdoing
Social media commentator Imran U. Wakili says the sudden release of former Kaduna governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai proves he was never charged with a real crime. Wakili argues that authorities held him merely to humiliate him, not to secure any conviction. He questions why El-Rufai was kept in custody through Ramadan and denied a chance to see his dying mother. The timing of the release, just before her funeral, suggests to Wakili a belated concession by those in power. Wakili calls this treatment unjust and says the late release hints at a “little conscience” among the accusers. President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani have since offered condolences, but public reactions remain divided. El-Rufai faces a 10-count charge of alleged public property conversion and money laundering before a Federal High Court in Kaduna. He denies all allegations.
