Mexican social media influencer César Gastelum, known for comedy videos and followed by nearly 600,000 people on TikTok, was shot dead while livestreaming outside a fast-food restaurant in Culiacán, Sinaloa. He was reportedly with two friends and dressed like a food-delivery rider when two men on a motorcycle approached. Authorities said a gunman fired at Gastelum at close range before fleeing. Security officials have launched an operation and are reviewing surveillance footage and his social media posts as part of the investigation. The killing comes amid ongoing violence in Culiacán, where rival Sinaloa cartel factions have been battling for control since September 2024. Local reports say at least 12 social media influencers have been killed in the city during that period.
