We Want to See Him in the EPL – Olarenwaju Predicts Nwaiwu’s Big-League Future

We Want to See Him in the EPL – Olarenwaju Predicts Nwaiwu’s Big-League Future — 1 of 6
1 / 6

Former Golden Eaglets assistant coach Yemi Olarenwaju has revealed the moment that sparked Chibuike Nwaiwu’s rapid rise. Nwaiwu, who began as a defensive midfielder at Enyimba, made his senior debut in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Iran in Antalya. Olarenwaju explained that it was Finidi George’s suggestion to convert Nwaiwu to centre-back after spotting his pace and ball-winning ability. A trial in training confirmed the move and set him on a new path. The coach praised Nwaiwu’s strength in the air and his one-on-one defending. He urged the 22-year-old not to relax and said he wants to see him in top leagues like the Premier League or La Liga.

Totally! His confidence and poise on that pitch really caught everyone's eye so fast.

A senior debut is a small sample, though. Early hype doesn't always match up to lasting impact.

No be small how a single match can shape a player's trajectory, but hype often overlooks the daily grind behind their progress.

Sure, Olarenwaju praised him, yet we've seen many predicted stars fade without consistent league performances to back them up.

Clubs should focus on tracking his training habits and mental resilience as much as his match stats before any EPL move.
