EFCC Arraigns Orion Surgical CEO Over N16.5 Million Dud Cheques; Bail Hearing Set for May 2026
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned Oluwabusayo Ekundayo, CEO of Orion Surgical and Satures, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gwagwalada on two counts of fraud and issuing dishonoured cheques totalling N16.5 million. According to the charges, Ekundayo allegedly obtained N4.65 million and N12 million in 2022 from Clara Onwumere by issuing cheques that bounced due to insufficient funds, in violation of the Dishonoured Cheque (Offences) Act 2004. Ekundayo pleaded not guilty, and the prosecution counsel requested a trial date. His defence team successfully applied for an adjournment to prepare a bail application. Justice A.S. Adepoju adjourned proceedings to May 8, 2026, for the hearing of the bail application.
