FADLU: Biafra’s First Fully Online University Launches in Awgu

FADLU: Biafra’s First Fully Online University Launches in Awgu

The First African Distance Learning University (FADLU) has launched as Biafra’s first fully online university. Founded by Chime Ifebuchechukwu Giland of Ogugu in Awgu, Enugu State, it operates a regional liaison office in Awgu serving the entire West African region. In December 2020, FADLU received accreditation from the Education Board for Accreditation under CCLP Worldwide. This certification, based on a self-assessment using the NEST Rubric, is recognized by the Ministry of Education through an inter-governmental treaty. Incorporated in March 2021 by the Corporate Affairs Commission (Reg. No. 1766732), FADLU is a registered member of the Association of African Universities and the Higher Education Commission in Mauritius. A permanent West Africa liaison office will be built in Awgu, with site plans signed by the founder in January 2026.

Not everyone wants a fully virtual degree; some students value face-to-face mentoring that online courses simply can't replicate.

To ensure credibility, FADLU should partner with local accreditation bodies and strengthen technical support, na, for reliable learning experiences.
