Rafa Benítez: 2026 World Cup Isn’t Complete Without Victor Osimhen

Rafa Benítez has lamented that the 2026 World Cup will feel incomplete without Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. He spoke after Nigeria narrowly missed out on automatic qualification and failed in the playoff stage. In an interview with an Italian sports daily, Benítez named Osimhen alongside Napoli teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Piotr Zieliński and Robert Lewandowski as must-see talents in the tournament. He expressed regret that the Super Eagles forward won’t have the chance to showcase his skills on football’s biggest stage. Benítez also tipped France as favourites to lift the trophy in 2026, with Spain and England close behind. He urged fans to keep an eye on emerging stars as national teams prepare for next year’s global showpiece.

True oh, without Osimhen the World Cup feels like it's missing its main star.

Benítez's statement feels like a big compliment, but plenty of top strikers will also shine in 2026.

I no sure say only Osimhen fit make that World Cup complete; there are other stars to watch.

Focusing on team strategy over individual talent might guide Nigeria toward stronger qualification chances next time around.
